PCB responds to BCB's proposal, Pakistan team to visit Bangladesh in July
Bangladesh will return home the next day after playing their last match against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy group stage on February 27. After that, Bangladesh will return to Pakistan for their next international series at the end of May. Bangladesh will play three ODIs and three T20Is against Pakistan in that series under the FTP.
Bangladesh's next meeting with the Pakistan cricket team will occur immediately after this. Agreeing to the BCB's proposal, Pakistan has agreed to play another three ODIs and three T20Is in Bangladesh in July-August after Bangladesh toured Sri Lanka in June-July. When asked, BCB President Farooq Ahmed confirmed to Prothom Alo about this series outside the FTP.
The BCB President told this reporter over the phone from Dubai today, 'When we meet with officials of other boards in big events, we talk about many things. We also had some similar discussions with the PCB. They agreed to send a team to Bangladesh at that time.'
According to the discussion between the BCB president and PCB president Mohsin Naqvi, the PCB will reschedule any series in the FTP if necessary to find time for this series outside the FTP. According to the current FTP, the Pakistan team is scheduled to tour the West Indies in late July.
Although the India-Pakistan match of the Champions Trophy in Dubai last Sunday could not spread excitement, there was a somewhat tense atmosphere in the Royal Lounge of the Dubai International Stadium that evening. However, this tension was also between India and Pakistan.
The current president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), Sri Lankan Shammi Silva, took charge on December 6 last year. PCB president Mohsin Naqvi is expected to take charge as the new president at the next annual meeting of the ACC.
However, as per tradition, there was a hidden opposition from India here too. According to reliable sources, it was revealed among the top cricket officials of the two countries in the Royal Lounge of the Dubai International Stadium on the night of the India-Pakistan match. However, India's obstacle may not last long in Pakistan's path to taking over the ACC. As per tradition, Mohsin Naqvi is coming as the ACC chief. It is expected to be formalized in the next annual meeting of the ACC.
Due to the huge market for cricket in India, almost all countries in international cricket have to 'manage' Indian power. This is even more so in the case of countries from the subcontinent. For example, Pakistan has had to accept their conditions this time regarding the hybrid model of the Champions Trophy. Except for India, almost all the other teams have to play in the tournament in Pakistan-UAE.
In this situation, the Pakistan Cricket Board has taken the initiative to strengthen its position in international cricket diplomacy. If they can finish the Champions Trophy smoothly, it will be a big step in that direction. If the PCB takes over the ACC, that will also be progress. In addition, Mohsin Naqvi's board is also emphasizing improving relations with other cricket boards outside India.
The PCB chief considers the BCB an important partner in the new reality of Bangladesh. It is learnt that the BCB is also in favour of it if Bangladesh's cricketing interests are met.

Sources said that the issue gained importance in the informal discussions between PCB chief Naqvi and BCB president Farooq Ahmed on the day of the India-Pakistan match in Dubai. Based on that discussion, the PCB chief agreed to send a team to Bangladesh in July-August outside the Future Tour Plan (FTP) following the BCB's proposal.
